We create little credit-card sized cards to get information into the hands of dads via public services like Maternity hosptials and Children's Centres. Here's some information about the cards and how to get hold of them.
Dad Card 1: For expectant dads
We provide this card free to all maternity units in the UK. If you would like to get hold of some, email duncan@dad.info. We can provide these cards to people outside the UK, but we would need to charge, depending on where you are and how many you want. Get in touch with us and ask anyway!
The idea behind this card is that there's very little for dads when they turn up at a Maternity service (over 90% of expectant dads do). The card has information about the best products and services available for dads online and offline, and has some information about a series of key issues important to expectant dads:
- How you can help at the birth
- Paternity Leave (UK)
- Financial help for families (UK)
- Registering the birth (UK)
- Post natal depression
- Breastfeeding
You can download a PDF of the card here (free)
Dad Card 2: For dads of young children
This dad card is designed for fathers who have young children, and is ideal for services like Chidlrens Centres, libraries and schools.
Like the cards for use with expectant dads, they fold down to credit card size.
The idea behind this card is that there are loads of ideas about fatherhood floating around in the culture, but very little hard information and lots of myths.
This card sets out research based facts about dads and how they can make a difference to the lives of their kids.
Sections include:
- Dad Difference: the difference dads makes to kids
- Dad Stats: some of the latest stats about UK dads
- Dad Reading: what reading to kids can do for them
- Dad Myths: Common myths about dads
- Dad Skills: Dads' skills can change a child's life
- Dad Health: The influence of fathers on child health
- Dad Law: Some key legal pointers for fathers
- Dad Money: Some of the money issues for dads
- Dad Work: Thinking about work, time and family
These cards have been designed with the help of fathers workers in Early Years settings.
These services want something to give to the dads who visit their centres, and the Dad card is the perfect way to make dads feel welcomed and valued.
They are available to buy in boxes of approximately 150.
