The Health in Pregnancy Grant is a one off payment of £190 to mums-to-be who are at least 25 weeks pregnant. It's designed to help support the general health and wellbeing of women in the later stages of pregnancy. The mother may choose what she spends the grant on, taking into account advice from her midwife.
Expectant mums can get the grant if they fulfill the following criteria:
- they are 25 weeks pregnant or more
- they have been given health advice from a midwife or doctor
How do they get it?
Your partner should get a claim form from their midwife or doctor - as long as they're at least 25 weeks pregnant. Their midwife or doctor must fill in their part of the form and sign it before giving it to them.
They will need to get your claim form to HMRC within 31 days of their midwife or doctor signing the form - otherwise they may miss out on the grant.
The can get a free text message or email reminder to help you remember to claim if you are not 25 weeks pregnant yet if they sign up for the reminder service
How is the Grant paid?
The government will pay the money directly into your partner's bank or building society account.
