Kids join Miffy for a Bliss Bake-off

To mark her 60th birthday, classic character Miffy is raising money for premature and sick baby charity Bliss, by taking part in Bake for Bliss, which kicks off today. And it’s not too late for you and the kids to join in the fundraising fun…

Miffy turns sweet 60

Most of us will recognise Dick Bruna’s little white bunny, Miffy – having been around for six decades, she’s an icon in her own pert-eared right and adored by elders and little ’uns alike. To mark her 60th birthday, Miffy is raising money for premature and sick baby charity Bliss, with the sale of children’s aprons and baking products helping to support the charity’s national fundraising activity Bake for Bliss, a series of cake sales running across the UK from 12 to 15 February.

Budding bakers

Don’t worry if you’ve missed the Bliss bake-off – kids can still join in the fundraising with this Miffy Baking Set. Containing a cotton Miffy apron, Miffy-shaped cookie cutters and a rolling pin, all packaged up in a stylish Miffy tin, your budding bakers will soon be knocking out cakes Nigella would be proud of. And the cherry on the cake is that a big slice of the proceeds goes to Bliss.

Miffy Baking Set (available in blue, pink or green – ages 3+): £19.99 (includes £3.50 donation to Bliss).

Miffy’s got it covered

Of course, being a bake-off wannabe is messy work, and while your kids will positively revel in getting covered in flour, they (or more likely, you) won’t be so crazy about picking pastry off their clothes for the next week. The solution, of course, is to cover them up in one of these practical but oh-so-stylish Miffy aprons. Made of wipe-clean PVC, any food gunge will be like water of a duck’s bottom.

Miffy Apron (available in red and yellow – ages 2-4): £5.99 (£1 donation to Bliss).
