The best Christmas family days out

The festive season is approaching more quickly than Santa’s sledge on rocket fuel – events are springing into action and lights are going up in towns and cities all around the country.

We have compiled a list of some popular family days out in London as well as a link to the Tin Box Traveller website, which will help you find an event near you.

Winter Wonderland – Hyde Park, London

We can probably keep on dreaming if we’re hoping for a white Christmas anytime soon, but at least Hyde Park’s annual Winter Wonderland is back to dispel the grey skies from 17th November.

An immersive walk-through experience that takes you on a journey through a spectacular frozen world of mermaids, gods and sea creatures.  This must see attraction for all ages, full to the brim with ice sculptures, will take your breath away!

In the new Deep Sea Adventure, you’ll be transported into the depths of the ocean. You’ll discover a mermaid grotto and come face-to-face with an octopus battle. Take shelter in the temple of Neptune and meet mythical creatures along the way. You’ll be amazed by the lifelike and colourful ice sculptures.

“Izzy Wizzy, let’s get busy” – It’s The Sooty Show!

Britain’s favourite bear returns this year to Winter Wonderland, with a fabulous new show.  Join Sooty, Sweep, Soo and TV’s Richard Cadell as they stage their own Christmas talent spectacular in their very own variety show. With magic, music and mischief, it’s an unmissable festive giggle for the whole family!

There are lots of attractions for all the family, visit for tickets and more information – guaranteed to bring some family fun to this festive season!

Canary Wharf, London

Skate beneath the twinkling lights for one of London’s most magical winter experiences from 4th November.

Nestled in Canada Square Park in the heart of Canary Wharf, the ice rink is fully covered so whatever the British weather has in store the fun continues.

This year discover a dedicated children’s rink and the unique skate path – an ice trail weaving under the fairy lit trees and back to the rink.

Along with ice skating sessions and lessons, Ice Rink Canary Wharf will host an array of activities to sample including ice hockey, curling tournaments and speed skating and is the perfect venue for children’s parties,  team-building days, launch events, ice skating lessons, and office Christmas parties.

So why not get in the festive mood and visit with some friends, bring a date for a magical night out or gather the family for an exciting day on the ice, this is one experience you can’t miss out on this winter.
