You can’t have a family day out and leave the dog at home, so we’ve put together some super sandy swathes that don’t exclude pets.

With recent reports indicating more people than ever are travelling with their pets, why not treat your furry friend to a seaside sojourn at one of the UK’s stunning dog friendly beaches? We’ve even found pet-friendly accommodation should you want to make a weekend of it or turn it into a staycation…

Sinclair’s Bay in the Highlands, Scotland

Sinclair’s Bay, known locally as Reiss Beach, is the ultimate in dog-friendly beaches for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The north end offers stone beaches and coastal crags, with the south side expanding to golden sands and dramatic dunes – the perfect place for doggies and their families to spend the day exploring. Whales, porpoises and dolphins are regularly seen from the shore, with the occasional pod of orcas.

Where to Stay: The Herons in South Keiss, nr. Wick

Sat on the edge of Sinclair’s Bay, The Herons enjoys panoramic views towards Noss Head Lighthouse. The house makes a great base for exploring this beautiful part of the Highlands and the historic town of Wick, just a short drive away.

Perranporth Beach in Cornwall

Nestled beautifully among rolling hills and areas of outstanding natural beauty, Perranporth attracts visitors from all over the world. Offering three miles of golden sands, clear waters and spectacular cliff walks, this dog-friendly beach is also home to a dog-friendly pub, the Watering Hole, the perfect spot to recharge after a day spent running on the sand.

Where to stay: Caerkief Farm – Hollies Cottage in Goonhavern, near Perranporth

Located two miles from Perranporth Beach, Caerkief Farm Hollies Cottage offers charming nearby accommodation in two acres of its own grounds. The cottage is restored from a period farm building and retains beamed ceilings in the living areas and original stone walls.

Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire

Located within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Robin Hood’s Bay is home to a beautiful beach popular with dog walkers. The traditional fishing village overlooking the bay is the perfect backdrop to long rambles with your four legged friend.

Whitby is a short drive away and offers stunning abbey ruins, a colourful harbour and marina with three miles of award-winning beach.

This stone-built detached former farmhouse, dating back to 1731, sits in a fantastic location in Robin Hood’s Bay just a short walk from the beach and old village.
