Settle down and check out what we recommend for your sofa-viewing this week…
Horrible Bosses 2
Starring: Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jason Bateman
The great thing about nasty bosses is that there is an unlimited supply. Which is kind of the basis for this sequel in which our three harried underlings decide to expand their “business” by getting into kidnap. That involves Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz being idiots and another raunchy appearance by Jennifer Aniston.
Get On Up
Starring: Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Dan Aykroyd
Boseman has already moved on to playing superheroes in an upcoming Black Panther movie for Marvel, but this was kind of his audition tape – a barnstorming performance as legendary soul man James Brown. It ticks the biopic boxes, but Boseman’s charisma and the songs are compelling.
Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Bill Murray, Naomi Watts
One for Murray fans this, as he harks back to his Rushmore days playing a grouchy neighbour who babysits for a young boy. McCarthy shows off a different side and Watts adds some class. It doesn’t break new ground, but Murray is magnetic.
Penguins Of Madagascar
Starring: (voices of) Benedict Cumberbatch, John Malkovich, Tom McGrath
Kids will already know the TV show and the big-screen move was inevitable, adding a celebrity voice cast and a bigger scope. Thoroughly enjoyable, well put together and guaranteed to keep the little ones entertained.
