Everyone else in the world might be off on Easter holidays, but not these two modern-day music legends. That’s right, Noel Gallagher and Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers have been busy getting ready their big new releases – and this week, both have unleashed the videos into the world…
Noel’s High Flying Birds debuted Riverman on Monday, the third track to be taken from Chasing Yesterday – the band’s second studio album.
The video (which Noel absolutely hated making by the way – ‘I make no bones about it,’ he admits. ‘I didn’t get into music to be in a video’. Fair play.) comes just in time to get fans excited for the likes of Latitude, T in the Park Summer in the City and Clapham Calling festivals – all of which Noel and his gang will be headlining. The single is released on 11 May.
Brandon’s track, Still Want You will be the second to be taken from his forthcoming solo album, The Desired Effect, which is due for release on 1 May. But don’t panic if you’re a Killers fan, Mr Flowers insists the band are not breaking up – in fact, they’re still ‘digging’ for new material – although their summer festival plans remain a little more low-key than Noel’s.
So do these legends still have ‘it’? Or are the days gone when Noel’s raspy vocals and Brandon’s boyish banter could warm our ears? Should the old-timers leave it to the likes of Hozier, Sheeran and 2015’s new elite? Let us know below…
