People from big families happier

People who live in large families are more satisfied with their lives, according to a new study.

The Eurostat flagship report on quality of life also found they had stronger relationships.

It found that more than 66 per cent of homes with two adults and three children were happy “all the time” or “most of the time”, during a four week survey.

The same results showed up for just under two thirds of families with one or two children.

So, it could be said that having children makes you happier.

And even during those testing moments of screeching tantrums in public, food throwing or record collection reorganisation, that still holds weight.

The statistics were based on a combination of factors such as material living conditions, employment, education, health and life satisfaction.

The report is the first time that Eurostat collected information from all EU member states.

Interestingly, researchers claim the study comes at a time when people are having fewer children.

The Office for National Statistics has said that there has been a drop between 1985 – 2015 in the number of parents having three children.
