BLACKHAT PLUS OTHER MOVIE RELEASES THIS WEEK
A guide to what’s at the cinema over the next seven days…
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, John Ortiz
Director Michael Mann takes on the world of hacking and espionage in his new thriller, starring the man also known as Thor as a hacker pulled into a worldwide conspiracy. Hemsworth proves he’s not just another Hollywood lunk and the film is shot with Mann’s trademark finesse (and camera filters).
Starring: Jennifer Aniston, Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington
Aniston shows her versatility in an award-nominated performance as a down-at-heel woman who suffers from chronic pain. Dark humour complements the tragedy as she tries to come to terms with the suicide of a support group colleague and battles her own demons. Note: this isn’t We’re The Millers 2.
Starring: Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook, Noah Taylor
Time travel – and all its head-scratching conundrums – drive the plot of this Aussie thriller, which deals with identity, people born intersex and well, a whole host of other mind-bending concepts. Trying to explain the plot is essentially impossible, so suffice to say there’s great performances from Snook and Hawke and while it might leave you baffled, it’ll certainly make you think.
Starring: Matthew Baynton, Ben Willbond, Helen McCrory
Created and performed by the people behind the brilliant Horrible Histories, the eponymous Bill is actually William Shakespeare (Baynton), who we meet in the period before he became a famous playwright in London. Anyone who knows the show will understand that means people playing multiple roles, lots of wit and genuine originality.
