Danger Mouse and SuperTed return

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again – they don’t make kids’ TV like they used to

These 80s and 90s classics like He-Man, Fraggle Rock and The Racoons will always live on in our hearts (and on YouTube) – but the truth is, not even Higgle Piggle or Dora could ever replace them. And that’s why we’re ridiculously excited to hear the makers of Danger Mouse and SuperTed are planning a huge screen comeback for our furry heroes.

SuperTed, a super-smart Welsh bear who fought evil with his friend Spotty, is set to return after 30 years to the BBC and the plan is to air 26 sparkling new episodes. Creator Mike Young even told the Radio Times he also hopes actors Derek Griffiths who voiced SuperTed and Melvyn Hays (Skeleton) would join in with the resurrection.

In the meantime, our favourite secret-agent rodent is set to come back with a whopping new 56-episode run. This, too, will broadcast on CBBC next year. There’s no word yet on who will be doing the voice over – Sir David Jason was Danger Mouse back in the day, while Terry Scott took on his trusty sidekick, Penfold. But we do know that original series creator Brian Cosgrove has agreed to return as consultant, which means Danger Mouse should live on exactly as we remember him. Cosgrove says, “I'm delighted that a whole new generation will be introduced to Danger Mouse’s daring deeds and thrilled to be part of this new 21st-century series. I can’t wait to find out what he’s been up to for the last 23 years."

Neither can we, pal. Neither can we.
