This week’s must-watch TV (20 October)

Our top picks for this week's telly...

MONDAY 20

The Kitchen Think GoggleBox but, well, in the kitchen. This is the final episode in this three-part series, and to celebrate, the Barry-Powers gang are pulling out a whole load of winning finger foods. Mmm-mm.

9pm, BBC2

TUESDAY 21

Human Universe Professor Brian Cox explains the implications of us (as in, mankind) being alone in the universe. And if we’re not, well, there are huge things to say about that too…

9pm, BBC2

WEDNESDAY 22

The Apprentice So we’ve already had a double firing, but what does Lord Sugar have up his sleeve this time? Fingers crossed for more of the same.

9pm, BBC1

THURSDAY 23

Detectorists We’re half-way through this weird and wonderful series and Andy and Lance go head-to-head as the Danebury Metal Detecting Club assigns a new president.

10pm, BBC4

FRIDAY 24

Tom Kerridge’s Best Ever Dishes Forget the actual food, Tom Kerridge is worth watching purely for his eyebrow-raising facial expressions. Okay, okay, his chicken dishes are worth noting too.

9pm, BBC2

SATURDAY 25

Dad’s Army Catherine Zeta Jones, Bill Nighy and even Blake Harrison has signed up to the new film of this much-loved TV series. But it’s about time, we all caught up on one of TV’s most sensational – and original – comedies.

8.30pm, BBC2

SUNDAY 26

Homeland With Quinn getting more and more manic, it’s hard to know whether Carrie can trust anyone these days within the Homeland squad. But that’s the whole point of the series and three episodes in, we’re still none the wiser as to who the baddies are.

9pm, C4

CHILDREN’S PICK OF THE WEEK: Justin’s House

Justin and his robot Robert are back for a new series and this time they have a very friendly neighbour who wants to share tales from her travels.

11am, Saturdays, CBeebies
