Review: Where’s the elephant? by Barroux
Teach your little ones about natural habitat through the use of colourful and stimulating imagery. Watch their young inquisitive minds grasp the bigger topical issue of de-forestation: page by page, image by image...
From the author of Where's the Starfish, Barroux gives us another interesting read. Find the elephant and his friends in their natural habitat in this hide and seek picture book.
Elephant and his friends, parrot and snake, live in a beautiful dense forest on a remote island. Work with your little one to find the friends as you turn through the pages. As time passes, the forest gets smaller and smaller, cut down to make room for human houses and roads. The trees become thinner and elephant and friends get easier to find; is there anything that elephant can do to save himself, his friends and his home?
Two year old Thomas was able to pick up on the bigger themes within the book, as well as finding himself challenged in the search for the animals.
Clever and subtle, this book introduces de-forestation and its effect on the natural environment in an engaging and fun way. This beautifully illustrated read is an excellent introduction to a really big topic for young children.
