Hi all,

My son apparently had symptoms of Covid 2 weeks ago and was told to test and self isolate. My ex claimed she couldn't get him a test, I offered to help and could get one but she declined my help. He was due to go back to school today but didn't as she's claiming he has "reinfected" himself? She again says she can't get a test and won't send him to school for another 2 weeks...

My son told me that she took him to the beach at the weekend when he was meant to be self isolating.

Would you raise this with anyone? Still waiting on Cafcass interview too..

hi,

police are taking a very tough stance now on rule breakers. so if son is mean't to be isolating but she's not doing that, report it.

She would need to provide you access to the General Practictioner who checked your son; she should not be stopping contact without you having site of any medical report.

Contact the police if she breaches the government guidelines again. It will give your ex a wake up call to stop messing around. Also contact the school yourself and explain your son's absence from your perspective. Tell them you are trying to get your son back to school if he is indeed well enough and ask if there is anything they can do to help.

Most of the population, especially children, have 'covid' symptoms right now. There's colds going around left, right, and centre at my child's school. She came down with a bad cold like most kids in her class as soon they got back and started passing germs around. I've come down with flu symptoms myself now. I had to check my daughter's temp as well as my own for clarity, but temps were fine and we're not coughing, so my daughter has remained at school. It's going to be a long autumn/winter and there's going to be lots of people thinking they have it when they actually have a common cold. Has your ex said your son has a temp? If so, ask her to retake it and send a photo of the thermometer reading. Has he got a continuous cough? If he doesn't, tell the school that.

Back in the summer, my daughter had covid symptoms when she was in her mum's care. Similar to your ex, she wanted to make a huge deal of it and keep my daughter with her rather than let me have her here. Yet, she refused to get my daughter tested. I phoned the NHS myself in the end and told them what I knew about my daughter's symptoms and asked whether they thought she should get tested and self isolate. They were really good and ended up phoning my ex themselves and prescribing a test for my daughter. She tested negative, thankfully, but had to self isolate until the results came back. Of course, my ex didn't do that. She took our potentially infected daughter to into the city centre shopping, and to visit her 65 year old grandad who is in the vulnerable category for medical reasons. These women are selfish and only think about what suits them.

Hiya,

Thanks for your reply! He seemed to me just to have a cold as my other children do, he had a cough but it was clearly due to all the gunk in his throat and nose!

Nope no temp at all! Cafcass called me today and have raise concern about it also! I have a meeting with his school on Tuesday so I can shed some clarify on it and see what they have to say.

It's good that Cafcass have taken it seriously. Keep me updated with what happens with the school, I'm interested to hear what they do.

Hiya Semifinalist87,

Just an update, school ended up providing him with a Covid test which wasn't used correctly. She still hasn't sent him back and the school have told me that it has been escalated to an attendance officer.

my ex had daughter take covid test for 2nd time round. just a slight cough. as expected, test was negative. she missed 2-3 days of school and then went back. am surprised ex let me take kids for weekend while she was waiting for test result. feel sorry for NHS this winter. every time a child sneezes, parents will want a covid test.

At least now with the attendance officer involved, they might give your ex a firm talking to and get your child back into the school. It will hopefully give the school a better idea of your ex's character too.
