I was ordered to do indirect contact every 2 week to my two kids for 12 months my ex isn’t replying my kids are 2.4 can I do her for contempt of court or do I have to keep sending stuff for 12 months before I can go back as my order says I can apply in 12 months if I want to
Ah replied twice and it keeps going off paper says I have to do it for 1 year and I can apply back to court in 13 months if I want to, but if she’s not replying do I still have to do my bit it wasn’t a good case am ashamed I was t a nice guy to her
You don't have to do anything as you cant be forced to keep in contact with your child. However if you want to increase contact in the future and play a part in your child's life then maintain indirect contact and then go back to court in 12 months time. Otherwise in 12 to 13 months you will not get anymore contact as your ex will say you haven't bothered to keep in touch.
Unless the order states your ex has to reply then no there's no obligation on her to do so.
Feel free to share your situation on this forum if it helps. Trust me we all have a history and various reasons why we cannot see our kids.
I think the idea is for a year is to write each child a letter once a month or every couple of months for a year. I would keep copies if you can so its evidence you sent them a letter each. I would to help you in the long run go on a parenting course, this shows you are committed as a father and will stand you in good stead arranging future contact. Also where your oldest is 4 it may be possible to ask nursery/school to let you know how he/she is getting on .
If you have a court order it may be worth reading it to see whats been ordered etc. if it says you can re-apply in 12 months could be worth making a court application a month or 2 before the year is up as time a date is given a year would of gone past
I did note after i wrote this that you can contact them indirectly every 2 weeks although i would of thought less often would be better unless your children with your ex helping are actually replying to your letters etc
