Hi all

I just wanted to share this as I met another person from here (Slim) last Sunday for a few drinks and a chat,it was our first meeting after many times of myself saying I will get out to meet him,we did and it was a great evening, first time in a long while that I had a smile on my face and enjoyed a laugh, obviously those who know the demons I deal with at the moment its not the end of what I am having to deal with but it helped, our stories are different in some way but some things in what Slim told me made me think about consequences in the future,i fully admit that I took a step back from my son (Nannyjane I said the right words then) I have no idea if I will see him again as at the moment I have to concentrate on getting myself into a better frame of mind, that may sound selfish but I do believe that I would be no use to my son in the way I am feeling right now.

I did ask my ex to see my son a couple of months ago but had a list of demands thrown at me so in a way I gave up and didn't reply, some people may think that's a cowards way to give up but at the moment I do not have the mental or physical strength to fight as I am fighting against myself and that's the first thing to sort out.

This site (Moderators and Members) have given me so much support that no matter how much I thank them it would never be enough, this site has saved me in a way but I am still having an ongoing battle but I know the support is here.

The end result is that if you have other members that live near you then please do meet up as I have gained a new friend and we will be meeting up again, thanks again Slim

Hi Lewy77,

I'm so glad you and slim met up, you just need to get yourself down to have a chat with me now Lol

I think little social gatherings in different areas for members would be a great idea, as like you and slim it helps to be with people in similar situations no matter what the battle, or how different it is, talking always helps.

Hi Lewy :)

Great to hear from you again :)

I'm so glad that your meeting with our Slim has helped, he's a great guy and it definitely helps to share problems and talk about ways forward.

You know, I think you've come a long way since we first met, you've made the decision to concentrate on getting yourself stronger and that in itself takes strength....recognising what needs to be done and then taking those first steps takes guts and determination. Even though you might not think you've achieved very much, just by putting the effort in, the results will come.

Take care Lewy and don't be such a stranger....GTTS is next in line for a few beers and a chat, don't keep him waiting too long! ;)

Mum and Grandmother, supporting my son who has residency of his son.
I want to see a much fairer system in place, where Dads and their children have a voice that can be heard.
There are many groups of people that have equal rights within our society and its about time Dads were given equal rights too.

Hey GTTS and NJ

Yes mate it was good to meet up with him and talk about various things and we will arrange for our chat very soon indeed, been a long time coming.

I think it would do other members so much good if they just ask around on here to see if others are near them because me and Slim had a good laugh, something I didn't expect to happen...........me smiling haha.

NJ I am glad you think I have come a long way since we first met,i am not sure myself but that's probably because other people notice more than I do,meeting Slim was good, been meaning to meet up for a while but never happened but he is a top bloke.

I do know that I need to sort myself out first and its not going to be easy I know, just take it slowly and day by day I guess but thank you for saying that ive come a long way.

GTTS is next though very soon but just a chat and no beers as I will be driving, cups of tea I guess.

You take care yourself and I will try and get on more often than I am x (That kiss is not for you GTTS just NJ)

I'm no way trained in Family court matters so don't take my ramblings as gospel but I've been through the Court mill and learned so much along the way I just like passing my experience on to other Dads who face this absolute nightmare from hell, you might not be able to beat the system but don't let it beat you :)

I will have the kettle at the ready and steal some teabags from the wife as I only drink coffee.

and for those of you not in on the final joke, myself and Lewy have been talking about meeting up via email, and I suggested we set a date, then realised how that sounded Lol

Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but nice to read :)

Support on the forum is one thing - support in person can make a world of difference!

And on the off shoot of that, I hope you're in a better place Lewy.

All the best,
BD

Hi everyone....

Meeting others from this forum sounds a great idea.
So...if there are people living in Herts,Beds & Bucks I'd be happy to organise something.
