My ex has closed the case, I am on CSA1 and she is going to reopen after 13 weeks and I will be on Csa 2 this is so she can get more money from me, is this right?

hi there

Well if it is correct i have to say that is rubbish and surely she can't be allowed to get away with it nor should the CSA be allowed to have anything to do with it.

I am sure someone will know the answer

Hi Huxley,

What do you mean by CSA2?

I know there are changes brought in end July this year where all CSA cases are being closed but thought this was a defacto move applied to all.

Regards,

Dave

CSA 1 is the pre 2003 system , CSA2 is the present system and it is being phased out to make way for the new system which will be CSA3.

The consensus is that you will be better off with the CSA2 system and your payments will be less, sometimes as much as 50% less. The best thing to do is to google CSA1 calculator and input your details, then google CSA2 calculator and do the same, then compare the amounts that each calculator has worked out that you should pay...my bet is that you will be paying less when she opens the case again. Hope this helps.

There are many groups of people that have equal rights within our society and its about time Dads were given equal rights too.

I have been assessed as nil on csa1 which is why she is going to close and reapply on csa2 as they don't account for housing costs

...as you said in your initial post.....so she can get more money off me, I assumed you were making payments. I don't have a lot of experience of the different systems but just from what other members have said on here, the CSA1 system is usually the one that creates the biggest problems for a paying parent....the Money Saving Expert forum members also give that impression.

Yes I was making payments but have moved and my mortgage as increased. All,these different systems are a pain.
I've obviously been reassessed as nil because they have done the calculations and I don't have enough income, yet if she reapplys and I get put on the new system, I will be paying a lot more

I have no choice with the house move, I don't want people to think I have increased a mortgage to avoid paying
