hi,

I am not generalising at all. there are also some mothers out there that have abandoned their children for good, just because they broke up with the dad.

A lot of people do get on with their kids, and their ex partners, after a divorce and maintenance and contact aren't a problem - we generally don't hear about the cases, because they don't need advice and don't need to come on sites such as this as there isn't an issue to discuss - they are really probably the silent majority, and I've know a lot of people personally who do this. The problem is then that the minority of difficult cases are the ones we hear about, and there are a lot of differences, which means that they are difficult to resolve with a one-size-fits-all solution
