I don't have a great relationship with my ex wife. However, I have managed to maintain a great relationship with my son but my daughter does not speak to me.
Son is 14 and daughter is 18.
My son is in education.
I believe my daughter left college this year. She has worked over the summer and is either starting uni in Sept or may defer for a year and work until then (not 100%).
She is 19 in November.
My annual review is due today and when checking, my payments are the same .
I assumed, I would stop paying for my daughter but am now unsure.
I will ring the CSA on Monday but wanted some advice on if my assumptions are correct and if so what the issue could be i.e
a. Do the CSA get calculations wrong and if so are they easy to deal with
b. Could my ex have not updated the CSA / child support (if this is linked and used, again not sure?)and if so, how do I challenge this
c. Any other considerations.
Thanks, I've tried speaking with them today but they are operating a triage service and won't allow me to speak direct with anyone. The person mentioned that it should be September when it decreases but when I stated that the payments wee the same for the year he couldnt say why but did say I had to challenge withing the month. I said 'I'm trying too but you won't let me speak with anyone' lol. I've had to send a message online and will see if they (hopefully) respond within the period I can challenge the payments.
They cannot second guess the circumstances, so need to be told at the time. Wait till September, call them or message via the portal(I recommend getting a login), they will contact your ex to confirm the situation and if she says yes, no longer at college they will adjust then.
They will not do it in advance, they do not know your daughters situation.
Chill I think, unless your ex lies about it when asked, it is a routine situation.
