Hi all new to this forum and have a quick question.
My daughter's recently turned 18 I am still paying maintenance as she was doing resits in school/college (Math/English). I have no communication with her except through my sister her Aunt now my sister has told me that she is wanting to go into the police and is looking at doing there pre-join degree in professional policing its a gate way to becoming a Constable.. Is this type of degree classed as higher education where i don't pay or not?

First question, how are you currently paying - is it through CMS or a private arrangement?

If it's not through CMS, then it's up to you really - you could simply stop paying and your ex would then have to open a case with CMS, and they'd decide if you were liable or not.

Otherwise, you'd need more details of the course to find out what level this course is - you could ask CMS to check if she's still claiming child benefit - if she isn't then payments should stop, but CMS are notoriously slow/bad to check this.

Hi

If its a course like in the below link then no I do not believe you will have to pay as it is actually a degree level course and would be classed as higher education/professional studies. Guess you need the finer details such as course name and where she will be studying it..

www.uclan.ac.uk/courses/bsc-hons-professional-policing.php

Plus as actd says.

Thanks
