Hi,
My first involvement started with the FIU, when I was called May 2018 after they stated on a phone call my ex saw me marry on Facebook. I complied with their requests and they even went to visit one of my customer to verify my information. The last I heard from them was November 18, until March this year, where I thought their investigations were complete - how wrong was I. Additionally that customer they went to see was another tip off by my ex, do not work with my company anymore because of this. I did report this to my local MP, who basically didn't help !

I have just been informed my 'informal' meeting at our local job centre has been changed to a telephone interview. The letter I received from them is stating my PAYE, and Dividens plus 'Others' form of income which far exceeds my company's turn over ?. I have asked where these 'others' numbers have come from, to which they said they will not share this information until the interview. They have stated though their investigation breakdown has been obtained from financial institutions, which I assume they have been into my bank accounts without my prior knowledge.
This is all extremely stressful especially when I do not see my boys, Tom 15 and Oliver 11 - I have always supported my children financially and run my company in accordance to my accountants direction.

Not really sure what else to expect from them if anyone can share any experiences, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

hi,

it sounds so silly. just because you re-marry, does not mean your loaded. would be good ideas to contact your accountant in preparation for any meetings with them.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply, and yes I have already done that in preparation - still not 100% what they are going to ask, so going to have answer what I can there and then and take away what I cant - just want this whole nightmare over as soon as possible,

Very silly indeed, especially when my ex ran off with someone at work and the fact I had to get a DNA test on my youngest to find out he was mine.

Long time ago now, but for some reason she won't let me move on.

Thanks again

Afternoon mat I’m a sole trader so my tax is stoped at source as in my story they went back 3 years of my books and all they could find was some discrepancies when I rented my property out and it was only a few hundred pound I know it’s hard and I had the confrance call as well they bombarded me with questions and all I said was I don’t know at this time and I’ll need more time to find out don’t admit to any thing and ask them to put there questions in writing and give you time to find you evedence I hope this helps and try not to worry about it I was up till early hours of the morning trying to sort it and there’s no point mat as long as you have done your books Wright you should be ok but they will try and pick anything up just to make there job look good

Thankyou sooo much for the reply, I cant tell you how much it helps. Just had another letter from them today saying my telephone interview is going to be cancelled until further notice.
Just going to have to find a space in my head to forget all this for now - as and when it happens I will share my experience here.

thanks again

Stay safe everyone,

I had a FIU phone interview. I got myself really worked up over it and was so nervous even thou I had nothing to hide. As it turned out, in the interview they just went thru my career history and it tallyed up with what my self assessment tax returns indicated. Two people were at the end of the phone and they each took turns to ask questions... They were both actually very nice and not overly inquisitive.
So I'd say not to worry as nothing to hide, and I know that's certainly easier said than done.
Good luck.

I recently had a similar situation, thank you all for your advice. I was so nervous when I spoke to them on the phone.

Everything went well and I was no longer disturbed.
