Internet Parental Controls, feedback? suggestions? 11 months 3 weeks ago #103995

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mitch, I am a single dad of 2, a 13 year old girl and a 3 year old boy. There are a lot of parenting controls already available in the market. With the law of supply and demand, this can mean that there is really a need. I am confident my kids listen to what I say, what to view on the internet and what not, but I understand too that they are still vulnerable to a lot of things.

I was thinking, just for precaution, why not try these parental controls. This is the article I read, thewiredshopper.com/best-parental-contro...ices-routers-to-buy/ . There are a lot of options. Has anyone here used parental controls? Any suggestions?

I am hoping to get something that's easy to use and at the same time suitable for my kids' ages. At the same time, whatever parental control I am going to purchase, I would be really happy if it would have a tracking device.

Thank you so much in advance for your thoughts!

Mitch

Your internet provider can always help, you can block access to certain websites or apps for example. When you say tracking device, do you mean GPS? With regards to the girl who is older, you can just track her mobile phone if she has one, obviously be open about it. just so you know she is safe if she is out with friends? There are GPS smart watched you can get too

hi,

phones is a minefield. but for home laptops/pc's, your internet provider should have parental control features available. get those set up.

theres now a Youtube for kids available: www.youtube.com/kids/
tinker with that. i switched to that after seeing my kids see random stuff like snakes eating live rats lol. started to get uncomfortable, and their mum going to cry about it.

Hi there. You should probably check a list of safe browsers where you can choose the websites or content you do not want to be shown. Or call your Internet provider to fix it. Also, I suppose you can just control what they google through the smart home system. Honestly, I am not 100 percent sure about that. Anyway, try to look for this information on the Ajax website. I know they use modern technologies and produce smart devices for house security. Probably they might have such one.
