My son will turn 6 next year in febrauary. My partner is not cutting my sons hair, his hair is really long and she told him she wants to grow his hair. Last time I had him for my weekend I went for a haircut and he wanted to go but I left it because of his mother. He has returned after 2 weeks today and his hair is longer, I will have him for the Christmas period and am thinking of cutting his hair.
Last time he had long hair and I cut his hair and she sent me a message to say that she wanted to grow it and I should of not cut his hair.
This is petty but I find this really annoying, I am paying so much maintenance and she is not even cutting his hair!
Also when he comes to visit me I use clothes for him that I brought for him. She provides no clothes or anything and I’m paying a lot of maintenance. Plus picking him up from north and dropping him back off from bham. I am paying for every single thing!
In terms of clothes etc, a number of dads do this because the mums send their children in unsuitable clothes and the dads were finding that the new clothes they were sending children back on were being kept, and it was a way of getting dads to buy clothes on top of paying maintenance.
I'm not sure what to suggest regarding cutting his hair - is his hair kept clean and brushed? If so, then I suppose there is no harm in it, and it's just a difference of opinion between you and your ex.
I kind of had a similar situation but the other way round - my ex wanted to cut my daughters hair short but I thought she looked better with long hair. There is no winning in a situation like this because ultimately one parent will end up being disappointed if you both feel strongly about it. Maybe you could compromise and have your sons hair cut to half the length that she wants - maybe you could agree a time when your son gets to decide as it's his hair after all.
