Oh my word :o o

My pet hate is science based on assumptions that is positined as "facts", even when the assumptions are plainly at odds with common sense...

I've just seen this article called the calorie delusion...[url:n5wc5lct] www.newscientist.com/article/mg20327171....re-wrong.html?page=1 [/url]

If you know how calories are cacluated (i.e. the food is literally burnt) it is obvious that it is not going to have a good correlation with what energy we get out of it...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So why introduce an article with the phrase "Because our bodies digest food, rather than incinerate it, the way we count calories is flawed - and that may be one reason that so many of us are overweight..." ???

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by such ridicuolsy bad statements?

I think it's much better to go with the rules that everyone knows:

* If it tastes nice, it must be bad for you, and vice-versa
* If it was on someone else's plate, it has no calories
* A curry eaten after a few pints of beer contains no calories

Stick to those and you can't go wrong ;)
