The sad thing is just how many chances the mother was given.

Yes - anyone remember the case of one Rebecca Minnock? She was the one who did a runner for 17 days because she didn't "agree" with the Courts decision (after she had blocked contact with childs father and made false allegations against him...).

When one goes back and reads the press coverage and pieces together details of the case (as far as possible) - it turns out she broke 10 Court orders... before "abducting" her son for a "publicity stunt". She did this because of the "terrible" injustice of not having her son live with her and a Court ordering something she did not agree with (how terrible).

She was eventually spared prison ( thanks to her ex partner dropping charges) and given 1 hour supervised contact per week (back in last June/July). Personally, it sounds like one hour per week too much....

So while the case Mojo mentions involves 5 court orders...I suppose we lowly fathers should greatful Courts are springing into action before breaches reach double figures!

I remember it well....it was absolutely disgraceful for the judge to put the onus of deciding whether to pursue the charges against her onto the father....it should have been a given! I'm sure the judge knew full well that the father would decide not to take it further.

It's a travesty that more cases don't reach the committal stage, I'm sure if the law that exists had teeth we would see a great reduction in resident parents flouting court orders!

having met that judge and heard him speak, I am convinced he was trying his best to find a way through the mire that the mother was putting the courts through. More judgements like this though might start to get the message through that courts orders are not to be breached lightly.
