According to the DadTalk news , you can tell which kids are going to be badly behaved in school by their first names. And which ones are going to be brilliant achievers.

Surely this is nonsense! But then I ran the lists of names past my 11 year old and he confirmed that they matched the trouble-makers and bofs in his class almost exactly.

Middle-class parents generally give their kids multi-syllabic, posh-sounding names. That explains those findings then!

I first read this through a different forum, was teaching at the time.

Expecting certain behaviours is a self-fulfilling prophecy! If you expect the worst and convey that then the child will give you the worst.

This article also sets teachers in a judgemental light. I found it complete nonsense. I honestly would expect this from the Daily Mail ...
