I have only gone and bought myself a pair of inline skates. Bought for the kids christmas. Did not realise what a hit they would be. They have been wanting to go everywhere on them, as wobbly as they are, though balance is coming quickly as with most things and kids.

So I have also been persauded to get myself a pair. Last time I skated was many moons ago, both roller and ice. Let's hope that it is like the preverbial, "just like riding a bike, you do not forget once you can ride"

Hopfully not too many bruises coming my way. Should receive them later this week.

Pics when they arrive

I think you should have posted this on the mid life crisis thread!!!

You are either very stupid or very stupid ( I mean brave!!!) - the only time I have skated it was on the roller skates you buckle to your shoes and I was rubbish - never again!!!

sorry - composed myself now.

A few years back, after our daughter got a pair, both me and the missus bought some as well. Missus's ones were never taken out of the box - After six attempts and various injuries I also gave up. Helps if you have balance I guess.

Can't wait to hear how you get on.

I'm picturing pillows strapped to bums!!!!

I ice skated a bit never really got on with it though, I had my own skates but only as the skates at the rink were awful and my sister worked there so I didn't have to pay. The rink here has been closed now so they won't get used anymore.

Now ice skating was something I never got the hang of - tried it at various points in my life, always the same outcome: spent most if the time on my bum, loads of bruises and sore for days after.

yep, me too - streatham Ice Rink when I was young. I could manage the straight lines, and just about got gentle turns. Stopping involved skating into the side of the rink.

Well received my skates --

Put them on, felt good after so long. Can stand in them and not fall over, so that is a good start. Can also move around a little without falling. So here is to the future on skates. By the summer, hopefully can be up and blading again. Can feel the butterflies and the buzz, feels goooood. :woohoo:
