If he wants to go, let him. No point in keeping a player who wants to be somewhere else. And for the money they get for him they should be able to get half a dozen 12 year old replacements (Wenger does seem to have a knack of talent spotting the youngsters) AND a new goal keeper, which arguably they need more than a wantaway midfielder.

Who will then score all my points in my fantasy football team?

I think he will go as the lure of Barcelona will be too much!

Arsenal Football Club have today released the following statement about Cesc Fabregas:

"Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is under contract with the Club until the summer of 2015. He is a highly-valued member of the team and part of our future plans.

"We have followed recent speculation linking Cesc with a move away from the Club but as there has never been any official approach for him, only two informal exchanges, in which we made it abundantly clear that we have no interest in transferring Cesc, we have refrained from publicly passing comment. However, yesterday evening we received an offer from Barcelona for Cesc and in response, we immediately and resolutely told them once again that we have no intention of selling our captain.

"To be clear, we will not make any kind of counterproposal or enter into any discussion. Barcelona have publicly stated that they will respect our position and we expect that they will keep their word."

There are times when I am sooo proud to be a supporter of the mighty Gooners. This statement is one of those times.
Arsenal basically told Barca where to go. LMAO

As a lifelong Gooner and season ticket holder, I am glad Arsenal went back to Barca with a quick no and also throwing in the Barca have already said they will respect their wishes, however one of the potential candidates for the new Barca president has already started the stirring and this is what they will continue to do. Every press conference with the Spanish team will contain some questions on Cesc and so the circus continues and Barca will come back with another bid.

I have a football link through one of my business and since that statement there has already been further discussions between Arsenal and Barca, so there is still a deal to be done and the talking point is more than likely to be agreeing a mutual price between the two.

I like Cesc but even though he scored 15 goals last season, he spent a lot of time injured and the previous season was not great even by his own words so maybe his loss would not be too great. English clubs cannot compete with the likes of Barca and until grassroots football picks up the slack with homegrown talent clubs will rely on the need to bring players like Cesc over here who sooner or later are lured to Spain/Italy. Thats not going to happen overnight and it may even take 20-30 years so as with the Ronaldo episode last year, history will repeat itself season after season.

I can totally see how it must make you proud to be an Arsenal fan when the club just turn a massive bid down flat like that,I do honestly think though that if a player decides he wants the move then sometimes it's futile to oppose it to be honest,Fabregas seems to have made it clear he wants to play for Barca so maybe it'll be for the best as surely it's best to have a team full of players that want to bust a gut for your club.
