TOPIC: Handling in-laws / young family

Handling in-laws / young family 11 months 5 days ago #92963

I'm looking for tips on handling the in-laws. I'm tired of emotional blow-ups and arguments over hurt feelings and who said what.

I don't have a lot to go on here as my parents moved around a lot while I was growing up and I never got to see how relations worked there (I guess they just weren't in touch??????).

A friend of mine with similar age kids (primary) just goes for the annual visit for a couple of days, says hi and then gets while the going is good, sounds ideal, anyone had a good experience trying that????

I would say that having a definite leaving time would help, or possibly pop in for a short visit on the way to something else, that way you can't stay long, and it looks as though you've made the effort to pop in rather than just driving past.
