hi Bowsa,

You wouldn't be able to represent for her, but you can apply to the court to be a meckenzie friend which means you can go into the court with her and take notes, you aren't able to address the court but as far as i know you can assist her.

Hi there :)

Darren is right about having a McKenzie Friend assist in court but whether the court would allow you to do this is debatable because of your close connection to her...family members are usually blocked from this role because of their personal involvement.

The best thing to do would be to write a letter to the court explaining your relationship and asking if you may be allowed to act as your partners McKenzie Friend, and submit it with the C100 form. You should get a response quite quickly which will give you the chance to make other arrangements should you not be allowed.

My son had a MF to help him in court recently and it cost £150. He looked over paperwork and advised on that, he also sat in on the meeting with the his ex's solicitor and liased with CAFCASS. He sat with my son in court and assisted him. He was there for about three hours and was very helpful.

I want to see a much fairer system in place, where Dads and their children have a voice that can be heard.
There are many groups of people that have equal rights within our society and its about time Dads were given equal rights too.
