Make sure you approach your case as the bloke does not the woman and you will be fine :)

I'm no way trained in Family court matters so don't take my ramblings as gospel but I've been through the Court mill and learned so much along the way I just like passing my experience on to other Dads who face this absolute nightmare from hell, you might not be able to beat the system but don't let it beat you :)

Hi all...

My view of the Panorama program is a slightly different one.
Whilst I agree that everyone needs to prepare their case absolutely diligently and well covered my issue with the program is that unless Legal Aid gets a lot more positive reform, LiP's will be the norm as not everyone can afford legal representation.
And this is not the only aspect missing as we all know that there are lots of cases where charges of DV are unjustly brought just so legal representation can be had.
Another area they have sadly missed out on is that without "self help" groups such as this or FnF some dads may not be able to have a meaningful relationship with their children.

Mind you, that said, it was good that this was shown as most people, ( those who are not involved in any way) haven't got a clue and think the road to court and a positive result is an easy one.
Most of us know different...

Take care
Kirsten

I found it weak, the only positive is that it highlighted the problem. FNF were involved in filming but were edited out.

We had the woman LIP being portrayed as disadvantaged, with an outcome that went against her...which lets face it isnt the usual. Then we had a man who was shown as on top of the game and he was successful....again not quite the norm either!

We also had the issue of DV rearing it head and suggesting that women were victims to the reforms, no mention of how statistics show that allegations have risen since the reforms were introduced. I would be really interested to know what percentage of allegations of DV were not found since the introduction of the reforms but I don't believe the Government are even looking at this.

DadTalk Moderator... I'm not legally trained and my responses are my own views based on my experiences of the family court. I have plenty of common sense and can offer you emotional support and guide you to answers.

Yes Mojo,

This would indeed be an interesting question to ask....
At the same time...it raises another question of how many non-mols were overturned ?
Both often go hand in hand and form part of the overall problem as far as I can see.
Just thinking out loud here but I wonder how many solicitors ask " leading " DV questions in the full knowledge
that a positive answer from their client will protract a case and earn them some money?

Take care
Kirsten

The quick search I have just done revealed this little jem.
Whilst it doesn't answer all the questions it still makes interesting reading.

Another ( for me hair raising ) find is this one.....it may be a little old as far as I can tell but nevertheless
somewhat intriguing....!

I agree it was weak and it was literally only them 2 cases of LIP's lasting for about 5 mins out of the whole programme even though that bloke seemed to be obsessed by the whole thing and I'm a bit unsure as to his choice of car lol he did have the right attitude towards his case and got the outcome he wanted.

I didn't feel to sorry for the bit about solicitors losing loads of business because legal aid had been cut and the programme never touched on everything else thats involved such as people still claiming legal aid with no proof of DV, the CSA/CMS, CAFCASS, mediation, mediators and how Solicitors are still milking the system.

As Kirsten said there was no mention about what support there is for people who have been stopped from seeing their kids I suppose it has at least highlighted what us parents have to go through to get access, it came as a massive shock to friends and family when I posted a link to the programme when I see them the first thing they say is "respect Slim for doing what you done to see your daughter" :)
