TOPIC: Closing statement for final hearing

Closing statement for final hearing 2 years 9 months ago #81123

Hey guys,

Was wondering if there was anyone out there that could help us again!!??

We are due back in court with a fully contested final hearing.

We have looked about and are struggling to find much about how to write./ what is deemed acceptable to say as part of a closing statement...

Anyone got any information about it??

Anything could help :-)

Thanks for reading and we appreciate any help with this.

BD and partner :-)

This may help.... have you been asked to file statements and when are you due in court?

Hi Mojo,

We are due back next week, and yes we have already submitted our statement-- (we used this for an opening and to answer questions from the last order)

Thanks for the link, i think i have read that one- just had a quick read through again- as we are also in the middle of prepping to cross examine. I couldn't find anything about closing...

I know things vary, from court, judge and by case- i think from what ive found its best to keep it snappy??? Battledad wrote a version but i thought we should close with maybe positives (other than looking to the future and continuing to have to discuss the past) but am unsure!

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks BD's partner.

Keep it concise and use it to draw together the important facts of the case backed up by any evidence that you have submitted and any points that you have been able to prove.....your closing statement is your final shot at getting the judge to agree to your requests...so outline the reasons why he/she should, so if CAFCASS have been positive in their reports, or made recommendations in your favour, that would be a good example? If you check out the Welfare Checklist and use that to guide your summation too.

Make notes of anything that has been said during the hearing that would help your case and be prepared to include that.

All the best
