TOPIC: How to find out what information is held

How to find out what information is held 1 week 6 days ago #100462

Hi all.

How do I find out what information various bodies hold on me, council, social services and police for instance? Is there a special name? Can I request copies of any correspondence that referenced or included me, if I was not party to the correspondence, are there set time frames to receive information? what are my options if information held about me is incorrect?

You have to make a subject access request to the various bodies . Under data protection / Gdpr they have to give you what they hold on you . I’d imagine the police won’t have to give you every single thing as it might prejudice an investigation for example . Call your local police station / social services etc and they’ll tell you the process . The police is online and the social services I wanted to request my data was an email adresss
