I'm sure i'm not alone in having to shave daily for work, I use as I have for year a wet razor but i'm thinking of going electric as I find my skin on my neck is getting sore.

Anyone else use electric and if so what brands are best and whats best to aviod?

I wet shave without a problem - I shave in the shower so my face is constantly being washed off, don't use any shaving gel or soap, and shave first with the grain, then against the grain using a Wilkinson sword extra II disposable - lasts about a week, I've always found it much closer shave than electric.

I did once try laser hair removal to see how that went, but it failed miserably - and cost a fortune - would have loved never having to shave again.

I stopped shaving a while back and do the stubble thing! I bought a trimmer and trim once a week now, life is so much easier!

When I did shave I used King of Shave Oil which I have to say was/is fantastic.

I read a great little leaflet once by the Body Shop on shaving and they said stuff like.

Shave before you eat breakfast, it's better!!
Shave after your shower or in the shower as the stream causes the hair to soften and sit better against your face
Shave down the face against the grain
Shave with a new desposible razor each time if possible.

Actd I also spent 2k on lazor treatment about 15 yrs ago, it didn't work!!!!!

Yikes - mine was about £800 but that was only a small area to test whether it worked - if it have it was going to be an additional £2500 for the lot.

I like the idea of the designer stubble - do that occasionally, but my other half doesn't like it :(

Darren, I know exactly where you're coming from, I sometimes get really bad razor burn and if I dont shave for say, a week, and it's really thick, I get really scratchy :(

When I remember to buy it, I used Gillette Sensitive and it seems to help. So does shaving after a shower. (Cant do it in the shower, havent got a mirror anywhere near!)

Regarding the shaving issue guys.... i used to get terrible shaving rash on my throat area and many ingrowing hairs that used to get infected and really sore. two years ago my brother got me some pre-shave cleanser and facial scrub (nivea). being a typical bloke i never used to use anything more than soap and shower gel.

However i gave this stuff a try until it ran out and i have to say that i nearly choked at the cost of the stuff when i went to replace it, but my shaving rash is almost non-existant these days, i do still get the odd day but i certain don't get ingrowing hairs anymore.
I think the scrub is great for that.
i also been using the nivea range including the aftershave balm, i have to say i stick to this routing quite well nowadays and i think its good stuff.
FHM readers have been voting it top of their products for quite a few years if you've seen recent adverts, it gets my vote.

I use the wilkinson sword razors at the moment but i'll probably go back to the Gillets as i think their blades last a bit longer than the 2-3 shaves i get out of the wilkinsons ones on my stubble.

After looking around I picked up a phillips shaver, that has Nivea balm built into it so it releases as you shave, it's not as close a shave but good enough so I look clean shaved for work and so far no rash!!!

Bargain to at £100 off

Slightly off topic but I picked up a oral b toothbrush at the same time and i'm pretty impressed with that too!!!!!
