Hi all

Well yesterday was my second visit with my little boy and what progress has been made, was not there long and he started calling me daddy which felt so amazing and he was so playful, laughing and talkative it was hard to believe we had been apart for 20 months. I did get in his good books though as i bought him a radio controlled car which he loved and i had no chance of having a go myself, he came to the shop with me again which was great and to top the day off yesterday his mum said i can have him for the day in two weeks time and bring him down to my home town, i am worried though as i am not sure how he will be getting in the car for the first time just me and him so any advice would be very welcome.

I am so happy that i got back into his life and just wish i could be part of his life everyday but i have just got to make the most of the time we do have together but i am very happy to have him back and being a dad to him.

I would tell him that if he feels unhappy in the car with you, then all he has to do is say so, and you'll turn round and take him back to his mum's if that's what he wants - of course in a tone that means you are respecting his wishes, not that you are being angry. Tell you ex you are doing this, just so she knows if might happen - worst comes to the worst, he might try it once, but if it does, taking him back means he knows he can trust you, and I'm pretty sure it won't happen a second time.
