TOPIC: Post natal separation?

Post natal separation? 1 week 3 hours ago #102304

I'm really going through the mill here. Me and my now ex partner had a baby girl 7 weeks ago, who sadly caught meningitis from birth. The birth and pregnancy was quite traumatic and she had to be given antibiotics for a further 3 weeks. Our baby made it through and is now doing well, however, my partner in my eyes has gone pretty off the rails. In this 7 weeks, she had told me she was suffering 'bad thoughts' she didnt want to see anyone which I found alarming. 2 weeks later she then found out her nan had terminal lung cancer and in my eyes just switched. She was saying some pretty nasty things to me about my dead relatives so in a build up I punched a door (not the best idea i know) anyway within 5 days of this happening she has taken the baby and emptied the house to go live with her parents. Doesn't want anything to do with me and has made so many irrational decisions. We were a good couple, had a loving family home and now I've got nothing, everything has happened in the space of 2 weeks. Even when I say I've accepted it, she always throws a spanner in the works to prevent me spending time with my baby. She has been diagnosed with depression before. The door has taken centre stage and being used as though I'm some monster. What's even harder to fathom is that the night she finds out about her nan, she is posting pictures of me on social media expressing her love and how I'm her world?! I saw her the other day and just looked like ice, cold, glazed bloodshot eyes and her damina is just numb. Can anyone advise me what may be going on here? Or has anyone been in a similar position before?

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch, I've spoken to a health visitor and they weren't due to see her for ages. I did notify them of my concern so maybe they will take a look. It's very hard, everything shes done has all been by text too, it's like she wont let herself speak to me. Shes so angry and it's just not the person I know.

Are you in touch with her parents? I imagine that they will be concerned if she's not herself and possibly trying to get her to get help.

Yeah have spoken with her dad, he just has his head in the sand and infact have aided her in making her rash decisions, hiring Van's to remove her stuff etc. She was in 3 grand debt which I also told them about, they just paid it no questions asked. to say they are very laid back is an understatement. They dont communicate. I had to inform them last year when she first had depression. When I saw her last week, I said to her dad whilst she was there, just look at her eyes, she needs help, his response was, maybe shes just tired.

If she's living with them now, it's going to affect them more directly - there will come a stage where they can no longer bury their heads in the sand.
