TOPIC: Already paying CMS and she wants more!

Already paying CMS and she wants more! 1 year 11 months ago #95594

Hi all, any advise or experience from any forum members would be very helpful.

I have been paying CMS for some time and have recently inherited some money from my late parents.

Consequently, the ex advises me that she will be taking me to court for more money!!

I am very confused on what basis she wishes to achieve this?

If am already paying my full amount of CMS, never missed any payments on what pretext could she get more money??

I don’t know a great deal about the financial side of things I’m afraid.

I guess it would depend on how much you’ve inherited, if it’s a big amount she may be able to make a claim on some of it for the child. I would get some proper legal advice.

All the best

Under CSA, sums over £60k were assessed on the basis that they produced a return of 8%, but I don't think that's the case with CMS. I agree with the above, get professional financial advice on this - it may be that your best option for now might be to put a majority of the money into a pension.
