I know it's not simple, but you need to make sure you are also looking after your own needs so that you can manage this better for now. It's not a lot, but it is a foundation and hopefully you can get this increased over time,

As it's only recent that you've been in court you'll need to get a good few months of this going before you can apply to vary the order.

is there any provision in the order to extend the contact in a few months? or is there any wording like "and any other contact as can be agreed between the parties?
if there is give it a coupld of months then ask the question for it to extend (in writing and nicely unless you're not allowed to) if it's met with no reply or a "we'll see" or "no" then wait a week or two and ask again....if same then wait another week or so and if still no agreement then tell her that you have every right to apply to vary the order to increase contact.

However, beware....depending on how your ex is she may see it as a challenge to her control and stop contact...if she does she is in breach of the order in which case she is breaking the order and you can apply to Enforce the current order and ask for the extra contact to be written in to it.

I have several years experience supporting parents in family proceedings as a McKenzie Friend. I am, however, not a lawyer or barrister and my responses are based on my own opinions or experiences of the family court.

Dad-i-d has given some good advice, I know it’s hard and it might seem that you’re getting nowhere fast, but if you stick with the order for the next couple of months and follow up as has been suggested, you should be able to get a better schedule in place... you just need a little patience.

We all understand how hard it is, when all you want to do is spend quality time with your child, try and look after yourself and do things you enjoy to take your mind off your current unhappiness.

All the best
