TOPIC: A dad or child support choose 1

A dad or child support choose 1 6 months 1 week ago #96580

Good evening guys,

One thing I've never understood and maybe you could help is the way guys are running around saying "she got me,she got me on child support, she's got my money every week start panaking ,to make you guys feel better let me list the benefits I have found during my child support paying history,

1.Child support is all inclusive
2.it's a fixed amount which means you can plan your finances.
3.its cheaper at 10.1% of your income for 1 kid providing 1 overnight per week,e.g £28,000/£538 per week would pay just £56 per week sounds comfertable right ?

4.You have your freedom and you can still enjoy really good times with the kids at the weekends, leisure time!

5.£56 per week is a good amount for someone to look after your kid for most of the week, what childcare or childminder can beat this deal?

6.Fathers embrace paying child support, enjoy your weekends lol

I agree if you have a good ex and you see your kids. I gave way over what is expected even in divorce to my ex wife no courts or anything. Cos I knew she would simply be a, mother to my kids and not seeing different men... Her family would have killed her if she had lol

I agree, and though my ex was a nightmare, she didn't prevent access (though moved away soon after the divorce, so was more difficult). What I did appreciate from very early on was that I was free to have a new life and see my kids on weekends initially, then alternate weekend, while she didn't have that freedom as she was at home with the kids, so paying 25% of salary (at the time) was a pretty good for me and I moved on with my life.

Don't forget, the vast majority of divorced/split parents do come to some sort of amicable arrangement - but when things are going OK, you don't generally hear about them. Dads mostly come on here because something has gone wrong, which gives a distorted view of the general situation.

For you lucky guys with a collaborative ex and are enjoying a positive relationship with your kids then yes, I suppose it is a reasonable situation.

However, there are untold numbers of fathers out there (myself included) who have been demonised and cut off from the children by a wicked, bitter and spiteful ex wife. It is clear that their only motives are driven by greed and spite.

So paying 25% of my take-home wage for children I can't have a relationship with, is utterly unacceptable.

The problem is, no mechanism exists in our (so called) civil society to put this right. So I guess I'll just shut up and keep paying.

Hi there

I’m sorry to hear that Spaz... when you posted 6 weeks ago you were much more upbeat and talking about overnights shortly beginning, and pushing for equal shared care... has something happened to change things? Is there anything we can try and help with?
