Hi dads. Such a shame to have to register on a forum like this..
I’ve recently received a letter via my former partners solicitor. Me being the applicant her being the respondent.
This is exactly what I’ve received in the letter, hopefully someone can explain this to me!
TAKE NOTICE that an emergency legal aid certificate dated the 4th day of October 2019 has been issued in legal aid area no12 to the applicant who since that date has been an assisted person.
The description/scope of legal aid is:-
“As respondent to be represented in an application for child arrangements order (spend time with).
Cost limitations of £25000”
That is word for word what it states, am I right in assuming she is getting legal aid? Can I get it?
yes this means she is getting legal aid for the upcoming court case. i received same. but it was useful. was a good thing they made me aware, because i reported the ex for fraud and her legal aid was later taken away lol.
do you have a criminal record? do you know if she has a lot of money in savings? if she does and you dont have a criminal record, then sounds like her claim for legal aid is very weak. legal aid is also assessed on income/savings. if your working full-time and getting decent wage, i doubt you can get legal aid.
Thanks for the info neither of us have much monetary value, I was of the impression that mothers only got legal aid in family matters if they were in an abusive relationship?
I do have a criminal past, but it in no way related to the whole process of seeing my children. Would I qualify for legal aid (I work full time but bring home less than £300 each week and bills are over half of that straight away)?
