So the final hearing was yesterday and it took a lot of twists and turns. Although I have been seeing my two girls at a contact centre for the last couple of months. Her solicitor arrived saying she does not want me to see them ever again? My solicitor went back to her and then my ex said she might consider it after 5 years? After a couple of hours, we agreed that I will see the kids supervised per her parents for a couple of weeks then unsupervised for a couple of months then over night stays. The solicitors went in to the court to discuss this, we were about to be called in to agree to it all, and then she changed her mind as was not happy with what was decided.
Even my ex's solicitor was pulling her hair out, she was being so unreasonable. She played the victim in court, hiding behind a screen, pretending she was too frightened to talk. Thankfully, the Judge gave her a huge dressing down. Telling her she is not putting the children first, they praised me and the reports from the contact centre and said they have no issue with me and no risk of harm to our children. So they agreed that for a couple of months I see the girls for 4 hours every two weeks for three months supervised by her parents , but this is out in the community. Then I will have unsupervised contact after that for a couple of months and then allow overnight contact. So its not perfect, but it is better than what I thought I would get.
One more passing comment, despite me not even seeing or speaking to my ex since February 21st this year, my solicitor heard my ex say that she is going to apply for a non molestation order?? So i am not preparing myself for another circus!!!
i am happy things worked out well in court. what a wretched person, to suggest waiting 5 years.his reminds me a little bit from my hearings. overnights were denied by ex. it was gradual process over 6 months. went to 1 night every other weekend. then 2 nights every other weekend after 3 months.
Good fortune Ferfer,
Stick at it and focus on being a good dad - it will get better for you and your daughters as time goes on.
Even having gone through all this myself, I'm still amazed how unfair towards men all of this is - and astounded that out otherwise fairly liberal society tolerates it.
