Phil has spent 20 years working around cars in one way or another. After starting a motor racing career, the realities of funding shortfalls bit hard, so he switched from driving to writing. A member of the Midland Group of Motoring Writers, Phil has done most things on four wheels, from seeing how high you can jump a Toyota Prius through driving a solar powered race car round the streets of Cambridge to getting behind the wheel of a prototype hydrogen-powered car valued at £6.5 million.

A dad of two himself, Phil sees no reason why that should mean that motoring can't be fun.
