It’s not always easy to think of ways to keep kids entertained during the Easter holidays! So, we have gathered together some great, simple ideas for Easter activities for kids to keep them busy. These activities also result in lovely items that they can decorate the home with.
Painting eggs
You can pick up polystyrene eggs from craft shops if you don’t fancy risking using real ones! Here are some ideas for decoration that kids can do easily:
- Use watercolour paints to make patterns
- Cover with polka dots
- Stick on feathers, glitter or buttons
- Paint letters on to spell out your family’s names
- Paint flowers, bunnies or chicks on them
- Or they could even paint them yellow and decorate with emoji faces!
Some easy, fun baking ideas
- Shredded Wheat chocolate Easter nests. Kids go mad for these! You can also put mini eggs or plastic chicks on top of them. Recipe here.
- Easy Easter biscuits. A bunny or chick cutter can be picked up easily at this time of year and if you use this (tried and tested by us!) recipe, then top with icing afterwards, you can’t go wrong.
Simple Easter craft activities for kids:
Yellow handprint chicks
The kids will love having their hands painted yellow, then making handprints on paper. After leaving to dry, cut them out and draw orange chick beaks and eyes on them (the fingers on the handprint are the feathers!) and stick them up around the house.
Paper plate bunnies
Plain paper plates can be brought from shops like Hobbycraft very cheaply, and decorated with drawn-on bunny noses and whiskers. Cut out ears from card to stick on top.
Paper cup bunnies
Using paper cups, stick on eyes, feet (on the bottom), and ears poking out of the top, and the kids can use the cups for an Easter hunt around the house, putting their treats in as they go.
Decorate a paper egg
Cut large egg shapes out of paper and let the kids get creative decorating them using patterns, shapes, feathers, glitter, or anything they like!
Make an Easter wreath
Ask the kids to decorate several card egg shapes, then stick them together in a circle and tie it to your door with a ribbon.
Toilet roll bunnies
Use a toilet roll for each bunny, and cover it with glued-on cotton wool, plus add the eyes, teeth and ears made out of paper or card.
