Hello

I was wondering if anybody has received a retention bonus from their work ? My contract is due to end in 2 years time and to get us to stay till the end they have offered us a bonus. I pay csa everyweek and as you all will probably know the CSA take what I earn the previous year based on my P60 . What I would like to know is would I have to pay my ex a lump sum of that bonus or would the csa just calculate this sum on top of my earnings ? . I could have this payed into my pension but I may need this money to fall on finding other work .

Any information would greatly be appreciated.

hi,

if a parent's income varies significantly due to bonuses, it can be assessed annually or reassessed at any point in the year if the income changes by a certain percentage (e.g., 25%).

As above, anything above 25% and you are legally obliged to tell them immediately as far as I am aware (happy to be corrected on that, though, if that's no longer the case). Are you able to pay some into pension so what you keep back is less than 25%? Bear in mind though that anything you keep back is likely to be included in next years calculation, even though it is a one-off payment.
