Hello all,
I have just started paying 15% of my salary into a workplace pension.
I informed CMS but the say that this won't be taken into account for at least a year.
This means that I am effectively overpaying for this time.
The lady at CMS said that the only thing she could suggest was to increase my contribution to at least 25% as they would then be able to review my case immediately.
Does anyone know what happens re the overpayment I'm making in the meantime due to effectively a 15% drop in salary?
Will it be treated as overpayment and deducted in future?
Thanks.
hi,
they only accept a 25% change if you want them to recalculate payments right away. your pension payments should be taken into account at your next annual review. unlikely to be treated as over payments.
alot of dads struggled especially during the covid crisis. as they took drops in pay, but because it wasn't 25% less, CMS would not make any change to payments.
