Hello,
I have just joined this forum to seek help & assistance in a financial matter...no doubt it has affected many of us on here,so hopefully I may get the help I need.
I have my three young children stay with me every fortnight from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening,I also have one of them stay on a Tuesday evening & drop them off on route to school on the following wednesday morning.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to afford to have my own children to stay, there are various costs involved, yet I receive no financial help apart from my Housing benefit, this does not cover the cost of feeding them etc!
I have checked with the Tax credits office & because I'm not the main carer,I cannot claim anything....does anyone know if there is any other form of financial help/benefit that I may be entitled to?
Thank you.

Hi There,

As far as I am aware there isn't, I'm guessing the mum is the main carer so she will be the one who can claim.

I'm guessing you have had your child maintenance reduced as you have them more than 52 per year?

Hi and welcome.

Unfortunately, there isn't any additional financial support for the non resident parent - is there any chance your ex would agree to a family based arrangement for maintenance - ie reduce the maintenance voluntarily?

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for your replies, apologies for this late reply. It seems that I have come to a dead end with this, but I think it is
so unjust that my Ex doesn't work, yet receives all the benefits going, yet I have to struggle to afford to have my own children stay with me!!
The situation is ridiculous,I have to go without eating properly,so that I can afford to feed my kids when they stay.....I'm not complaining,I'd do anything for them, but the whole benefit system is completely biased against the Fathers.
Perhaps, she may be persuaded to contribute financially towards the costs of me having them, but I can't see it!
Thanks again for your help,If there is anything you can think of,that may help me,I would be grateful.

Derek
