Child Maintenance back pay

Hi All,

I've just been told that I have been underpaid for a few years at work and I could be owed between £4000- £5000 could be less or could be more, but I was still with my ex partner when they was under paying me. Since I left my ex I was in a different job role so my pay is correct from when we split when she took CMS out.

Will this affect my child maintenance and increase how much I will pay in the next annual review as my wage will not change at all.

I was planning on using the money to clear all the old debt that my ex put me in so I no longer have to worry about it.

As once the dept is cleared I will not have that money no longer and like I said my wage will not change and I am on minimum wage.

As I wont be able to afford CMS if there is a big increase as I already struggle now, half me feels like I don't want this money if it going to financially make me worse off.

hi, if the money owed is classed as taxable income, then CMS will see that and take into account when sorting put your payments at next annual review. you can have a chat with your HR/payroll team about it. CMS may treat it as same as receiving a bonus, and increase your payments.
