I've been reading mixed reports so not sure what to believe. I've been paying maintenance via CSA since February 2010. Ex is now appealing a decision made and Im worried they are about to take my wife's income into account. Can she do this, ok the CSA haven't so far but can they actually do it?
Also, what happens if I was to win the lottery (not that I have) or a family member to leave me some money when they die, is the ex entitled to any?
If somebody could clear this up for me i'd be very grateful.

The question of spouses wage being taken into account comes up a lot.
As far as I believe it isn't taken into account, No one I know has their partners wage used in the calculations for CSA and if you go too the CSA calculator on line it doesn't mention anything about partners, only if any other children live at the non residence home.
With lottery or being left given money, the only way she would be entitled would be if it was written into any divorce proceedings, again as far as I know, CSA go on wages only, though if it were a very large sum that you earnt excess interest off each month this may be taken into account as an income.

Darren is right that your wife's income isn't taken into account (though if your wife is employed as part of your business, for instance, and was to be paid excessively, then it could be a diversion of income) - however, any tax credits she gets will be included.
I'm not sure of the latest figure, but it certainly used to be any assets of £60,000 or more (I think that excludes the main residence) are also assessed, so a lottery win or inheritance could well come under this.
