Please can someone help me I have been paying £200.00 per month for my daughter since 1999 and in 2009 I asked my ex if we could reduce the payments as I had moved to an area and changed jobs where I was getting less wages. She went to the CSA and they re-assessed me and said that my regular maintenance payments should be £126.00 per month but as we hadnt done it through them I now owed £20,000 arrears I proved to them that I had made regular monthly payments but they said these were a gift and I owed the arrears and they put an attachment of earnings order on me. My daughter will be 19 in October and I have just received another one saying that I have to carry on paying till July 2013 I range the CSA and told them the attachment was wrong and wanted to appeal it but they wont send me the forms. I have tried ICE and they cant help, I dont owe any arrears I dont want an attachment of order earnings on me and they wont remove it. I asked my ex to speak with the CSA and tell them we had a private arrangement but she wont what the [censored] am I supposed to do now.

Hi

I will ask the CMO is they can advise, but I would say that you put it in writing to them that you want to appeal - I cannot see that they are acting properly by refusing to send you the forms.

Keep checking back for the CMO's response on here.

Hi,

I'm Sarah, the Child Maintenance Options Consultant. I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with your Child Support Agency (CSA) case.

If you do not agree with the decision the CSA has made in relation to your case, you should formally ask them to review their decision. If you're still not happy, then you can appeal against the decision. This is a legal process which can take a long time to go through. However, you do not need a solicitor to represent you at an appeal.

For more information about reviews and appeals, visit http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/ChildMaintenance/IfyourealreadyusingtheChildSupportAgency/DG_199067

I’m sorry but we can't look into individual cases here. If you would like to contact the CSA then I am sure they will be happy to look into your case. You can find contact details on any letter the CSA have sent to you. Or, you can find the right number here: https://www2.dwp.gov.uk/csa/v2/en/contact/index.asp.

I hope this information is helpful.

Sarah
