Hi I have just recieved a phone call from the csa telling me I have been underpaying since september2009, my xpartner requested that they do a check on my money back in september 2009, which they have admitted they forgot to do! As you can imagene after 2 1/2 years this amount has crept up. In this time I have had a baby girl with my new wife I didnt inform the csa as i new this would mean i would have to pay less money to the csa( i didnt want to be taking money away from my son) they are now saying that i cant take off this money. on a great plus side my son has now come to live with me since march2012 as his mother was not looking after him. So the money i will have to pay will not bennifit him,but in fact it will mean he will have to go with out more. any help please.

I would look at offering to pay off the arrears over as long as possible - I think the CSA are right in that they will only take a change of circumstances into account from the date they are notified about it (unless there is a deliberate attempt to conceal). Are the CSA aware that your son now lives with you - and have you asked the CSA to pursue your ex for maintenance? Also, are you receiving child benefit for your son now - not related to the CSA question, but just making sure.
