[Solved] CSA Maintenance Calculation

I have requested that the CSA calculate how much maintenance I am to pay my ex-partner for my son as I think she is asking for an unreasonable amount.
They have asked for NET pay for the last three months.
One of those months is an unusually high payment, having worked a Bank Holiday (The only one of the year).
How do the CSA calculate my payments?
Is it an average of the three months?
If so, this does not seem fair as the pay I received in that month is not regular and will raise the average drastically.

Hi

I'll ask the cmo to give an opinion on this - I'm guessing that if the tell the CSA that it was an exceptional amount and can prove this with your pay record over a longer period, then that would resolve the issue

Hi, I'm Sarah, a Child Maintenance Options consultant. Sorry for the delay in replying.

When working out child maintenance, the CSA will use averaged income that is as reflective of normal income as reasonably possible. If the CSA believes the income for a certain period does not accurately reflect normal income, then a different period can be considered or particular payments disregarded.

Ultimately, a decision will need to be taken by the CSA based upon your individual circumstances. Therefore, it would be in your best interests to contact the CSA directly.

I hope this information helps.

Sarah.
